Vehicle’s Biography

The 2010 Cadillac CTS lineup gains a wagon body style and a new base engine. CTS sedan and Sport Wagon come as the 3.0 model, with a new 270-hp 3.0-liter V6 engine. This replaces a 263-hp 3.6-liter V6. Both body styles also come as the 3.6, with a 304-hp 3.6-liter V6. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard on 3.0 sedans and is offered as a credit option on 3.6 sedans. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard on all wagons and 3.6 sedans; it's optional on the 3.0 sedan. Rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive is available. The high-performance CTS-V is a rear-drive sedan powered by a supercharged version of the Chevrolet Corvette's 6.2-liter V8 engine. It produces 556 hp and is mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. The CTS-V comes standard with GM's Magnetic Ride Control suspension, which automatically adjusts firmness within two driver-selectable modes. GM also is offering its "Performance Traction Management" system on the CTS-V. This system is similar to GM's Stabilitrak antiskid system, but it is set to aid performance in spirited driving. The V also gets an upgraded interior that includes available Recaro-brand seats with 14-way adjustment and a suede-like micro fiber wrap for the shift lever and steering wheel. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags. Available features include steering-linked headlamps and keyless entry and ignition. A navigation system is standard on the CTS-V, optional otherwise.

Exterior view of CTS - 8.6

The 2010 Cadillac CTS is a sharp, angular car in a class full of rounded, sleek sedans. The contrast works in the Caddy's favor. The Kansas City Star says, "There's a hint of forward movement throughout the design even while the car is standing still." The styling has won almost universal praise from the automotive press.

Cadillac once represented luxury to American buyers, but the make's reputation fell with quality problems in the 1990s. The CTS has grabbed the mantle back for GM's luxury division. Auto Week says the interior "feels completely fresh yet entirely like a Cadillac, and it looks as elegant as anything on the road." Reviewers are particularly fond of the navigation system, which hides away when not in use, and the interior LED lighting.

Performance of CTS - 8.8

The 2010 CTS outperforms many imports that Cadillac wouldn't dream of challenging just a few years ago. It gets a lot of power from its V6 engines, and Motor Trend says, "It's not just the best-handling Caddy in history, but probably the best-handling American sedan ever." Equally important, it can cruise comfortably when its driver doesn't want a performance car. Two engine choices let buyers decide how much performance they're willing to pay for.
