The Ferrari 458 Italia is a mid-engined sports car to be produced by the Italian sports car manufacturer Ferrari, as the replacement for the Ferrari F430.
Ferrari has not announced a price or even the start-date for production, but the 458 Italia was officially unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show on15 September 2009. However, there have been sightings of the car in Switzerland and the Netherlands.

It replaces the outgoing F430… and, judging by the numbers, it's going to be simply astonishing.

First, the engine: a new 4.5-litre direct injection V8 putting out – ready for this? – 420kW. That’s 58kW more than the current F430, and 38kW more than the Scuderia.

325km/h fast, in fact. And a 0-100km/h time of ‘less than 3.4 seconds’. That is unbelievably quick: the F430 hits 100km/h in four seconds flat, and even the Scud can only manage a three-point-six. In fact, it’s even faster than an Enzo.

We drove on a highway in the Netherlands when a Ferrari 348 past us, so we decided to follow it and we came out at Kroymans (Ferrari/Aston Martin/Maserati) in Hilversum. In the garage we saw this great Ferrari 458 Italia, we waited half an hour and than it came out for a little testride! Please watch the whole vid, at the end can you see how incredible fast this new Ferrari is!

Wow. If you've ever been lucky enough to drive a 430 Scuderia and thought you'd reached motoring nirvana, then I'm afraid the world has just moved on. The Ferrari 458 Italia makes that car very old school...

The latest all-new Ferrari is the most useable yet - a racer for the road but with more than a nod in the direction of GT talents as well. To that end, there's a dual-clutch gearbox as standard, complete with full auto mode, as well as adaptive damping, a 4.5-litre V8 which revs to 9,000rpm and produces 570bhp and 398lb ft, a steering rack with two turns lock to lock, plus the usual electronic trick diff.

Suffice to say, it's neither slow nor boring. The noise is epic (we found a long tunnel and it sounded like we were sat slap bang in the middle of an F1 car because the exhaust baffles open at 2,500rpm) and the way the pace builds through all the gear changes is far too addictive to be legal. These are seriously quick up and down shifts, although not quite as mechanical and brutal as the F1 gearbox on the Scuderia.

But the single best thing about this 458 is that it's not intimidating. Switch the adaptive damping to the Bumpy Road' setting and there isn't a supercar out there which rides as well. And because everything is so intuitive - from the steering to the gearbox, even the satnav controls - you feel immediately at home in it. Nothing shocks, nothing surprises.

The whole thing feels modern. If we're going to be honest, the Scuderia wore its technology rather reluctantly. But the 458 has been designed with it from the outset, so even the satnav now feels like a proper satnav system, not some botched after-market thought.

Perhaps the greatest compliment we can pay the 458 is that it no longer feels like it needs a Challenge Stradale or Scuderia version. The 458 does it all. And does it bloody well.

How much car can you get for $25,000? More than you might think.

From two-seat convertibles to sport-utility vehicles, family sedans and minivans, a wide range of new vehicles can be purchased for that price or less. Chevrolet's hot-selling 2010 Camaro LT muscle car costs $23,880. It comes with air conditioning, power-operated windows, locks and seats, a CD player and a 304-horsepower engine. It isn't the most powerful version of the car or the most luxurious, but it looks sharp and gets attention.

A Honda Accord EX sedan with a four-cylinder engine and automatic transmission costs $24,630. A well-equipped diesel-powered Volkswagen Jetta station wagon that gets 41 miles per gallon costs $24,615. Toyota's mid-level Prius hybrid goes for $23,800.

People perceive $25,000 as a price they can manage, analysts say -- without having to settle for a low-end car such as a Hyundai Accent Blue ($9,970) or a Chevrolet Aveo ($11,965). Car makers, facing a prolonged sales slump, are trying to keep prices below that perceived sweet spot in order to lure recession-weary consumers.

Subaru sells most of its cars for just under $25,000, spokesman Michael McHale says. The auto maker lowered the price of its top-of-the line 2010 Outback by $1,100, in part to help keep the model's average price down.

Crucially, at $25,000, buyers can keep monthly car payments between $400 and $500 on a four-year loan with an interest rate of 6.56% and a down payment, trade-in or combination equal to 20% of the sticker price, according to Bankrate.com. Lower-cost loans are more important for buyers than in the recent past because lease offers have been cut back substantially and are harder to find.

Often, a $25,000 sticker gets customers into showrooms, where dealers assume buyers will wind up spending closer to $30,000 after adding options, tax, and registration and document fees, car companies and industry analysts say. "If you want to end up paying $25,000, you should start with a car in the low 20s," says Philip Reed, senior consumer advice editor for, a market-research Web site.

The sweet spot itself keeps rising. A decade ago, consumers searched for cars for less than $20,000 -- a price that allowed you to get a mid-range Honda Accord, a low-end Ford Explorer or a Camaro, but not an entry-level BMW.

Of course, there are things a driver must give up with the typical $25,000 car, including leather seats, navigation systems and eight-cylinder engines. A full-size pickup truck is available for well below $25,000, but not the family-friendly four-door model. Seven- or eight-passenger minivan: yes. Rear-seat DVD screens: no.

The CTS sedan has been a great success for Cadillac, garnering much praise from the automotive media. So it's no wonder that the 2010 Cadillac SRX leans heavily on the same cabin tech and bold design features that made the CTS so popular. In many ways, the new SRX looks like the CTS on stilts.

Like CTS Cadillac SRX has the same LCD that partially stows itself in the dash, leaving a strip visible to show audio information. There was the hard-drive-based navigation system with traffic. The car even comes with the record button that saves radio broadcasts, essentially it works like TiVo for radio.

In Cadillac SRX, Cadillac added a round, color information display to the speedometer that shows a variety of information--such as the trip computer, navigation directions, and even the speed limit of the current road. When starting the SRX, an animation of the Cadillac logo rolls into place, adding a little special effects glory for this high-tech cruiser.

The 2010 SRX, fitting the small SUV with a 3-liter V-6 engine, which should be the perfect size for this vehicle.

Power-mad speed demons will be disappointed with the cars meager reaction when they hit the gas pedal.

Car Tech, The new SRX offers solid technology, but if only it had more motive power.


Cadillac SRX also has a six-speed-automatic transmission, the same as the one used in the CTS. When racing toward a corner and then hitting the brakes, the transmission will aggressively downshift and hold a low gear as you hit the gas on the way out to the next straightaway. The transmission exhibits similar behavior in the SRX, only the 3-liter engine can't really realize the transmissions potential. It's like putting an F-22 pilot into a 747; he might have incredible reflexes, but they will be largely wasted.

The SRX gets an EPA-rated fuel economy of 17 mpg city and 23 mpg highway, fairly typical numbers for a small SUV. In our driving, we only achieved 19.4 mpg.

Advanced technology and entertainment systems

The 2010 SRX features numerous advanced electronic systems. Highlights include a "pop-up" navigation screen with three-dimensional imaging; adaptive forward lighting that swivels the headlamps in synch with vehicle steering; power liftgate with adjustable height setting; integrated hard disc drive for audio storage and a dual-screen system for rear entertainment.

Bluetooth compatibility is standard, as is On Star’s turn-by-turn navigation service for buyers who do not select the car's navigation system option.

The 2010 Cadillac CTS lineup gains a wagon body style and a new base engine. CTS sedan and Sport Wagon come as the 3.0 model, with a new 270-hp 3.0-liter V6 engine. The CTS-V comes standard with GM's Magnetic Ride Control suspension, which automatically adjusts firmness within two driver-selectable modes. GM also is offering its "Performance Traction Management" system on the CTS-V. This system is similar to GM's Stabilitrak antiskid system, but it is set to aid performance in spirited driving. The V also gets an upgraded interior that includes available Recaro-brand seats with 14-way adjustment and a suede-like micro fiber wrap for the shift lever and steering wheel. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags. Available features include steering-linked headlamps and keyless entry and ignition. A navigation system is standard on the CTS-V, optional otherwise.

Several years ago D.A.D took center stage at the Tokyo Auto Salon in Japan and the SEMA in Show North America by showing off their crystal-encrusted Mercedes-Benz SL.


For TAS 2010, D.A.D added another SL to their collection sporting a gold theme rather than the bright white crystal theme we’ve come to love feel nauseous about over the years Impressively enough, D.A.D also had a DVD playing, which showed the gaudy Mercedes prowling various streets around the world.

According to new Consumer Reports survey,Toyota is tops.

Despite experiencing one of the most turbulent years ever in the automotive market, Chevrolet, Ford, and Subaru have benefited from a dramatic increase in overall brand perception among car owners. According to Consumer Reports 2010 Car Brand Perception Survey, all three saw at least a 30-point increase in their overall perception scores over last year's scores. The scores reflect how consumers perceive each brand in seven categories: Safety, quality, value, performance, design/style, technology/innovation, and environmentally friendly/green.
The scores reflect consumers' total perception level of a brand across those categories, and not the actual qualities of the brand's individual vehicles.

Toyota its Number one spot. But overall score improvements helped Ford slip past Honda second place and allowed Chevrolet to rise to fourth place, from ninth. Subaru's-point increase, which was the largest of any brand and almost double its 2009 score, boosted the brand to ninth place, from last year's 18th position.

Ford is in the First position and achieve the Car Of The Year 2010.


Honda has achieved the Second position amongst all the Brand.

Chevrolet has achieved the fourth position from Ninth.

Subaru's point increase, which was the largest of any brand and almost double its 2009 score, boosted the brand to ninth place, from last year's 18th position.

At the other end of the spectrum, the two lowest-scoring brands were Hummer and Saab—divisions that General Motors has struggled to sell.

As we analyzed the results from this year's survey, we have found that marketing and news coverage can be important influences, shaping brand perception over time. Conversely, the brands that can clearly deliver on core purchase factors will make lasting impressions.

In contrast to brands that have a strong image in only one area, such as Volvo with safety, the brands that see the greatest success are those that excel in multiple areas, such as Toyota, Ford, Honda, and Chevrolet.For consumers, it's important to remember that brand perception often reflects distortions of reality, as is discussed in the following sections. It pays to look beyond your impressions and do your homework, especially in the areas that are most important to you.

How the scores were calculated

The Consumer Reports National Research Center conducted a random, nationwide telephone survey Dec. 3-7, 2009, contacting 2,017 adults. The Center collected the survey data from 1,752 adults in households that had at least one car.


Overall brand perception is an index calculated as the total number of times that a particular make was mentioned as exemplar across all seven categories, divided by the total unaided mentions. (Interview subjects were asked what brands exemplified the traits instead of read a list of brands.) That approach compensates for awareness level, ensuring that every brand has an equal chance of leading a category, not just the best-selling or most well-known brands.


Category scores reflect the number of times that the particular make was mentioned as an exemplar of the particular attribute, again corrected for awareness.
